On the weekend, our little guy turned two years old! I know, I know…everyone with a kid says “doesn’t it go fast!” but seriously, DOESN’T IT GO FAST!! Freakishly fast. It was a mix of excitement, terror and sadness knowing that he is growing up so quickly before our very eyes. What an honour though to be his parents and witness it all!
First thing in the morning, we gave Judah his gift from us…his train table! His face in the following photo pretty much sums up how he felt about it. Already it has provided hours of uninterrupted entertainment. Win-win!
For Judah’s birthday celebration we had a small gathering of close friends and family come over to our place in the hinterland for a little birthday party in our backyard. Seeing as Judah loves trucks we had a construction theme for him and we decided to keep things pretty simple and relaxing for the adults. The toddlers and big kids were kept occupied by chooks, painting, books, cubby and fort, water table and carts. Us adults pulled up some camping chairs and cheered ourselves for surviving the first two years!
Treens baked a dairy-free and starch-free/gluten-free chocolate cake with chocolate frosting that tasted AMAZING! Judah helped out with the baking by biting a chunk out of his 2-year-old candle the day before. Both Judah and I have allergies so Treens had quite a mission on her hands and the cake was delicious! Let’s just say there was not a crumb left!
Judah and his Grandad taking some time out 🙂
Treens’ parents. Judah calls them Gigi and Ba-dah. His way of saying Granny and Grandad.
Sweaty and dirty from having waaaaaay too much fun at his party!
Poor chookie girl. As you can imagine the day soon turned to ‘chase the chooks’ 🙂
We found this cubby and slide for $100 on Gumtree! I am ADDICTED to Gumtree by the way!!! A fresh coat of paint, adjustments (I made the middle fort…still a work-in-progress though), rock climbing wall, shade tent, ramps, etc) and some creative planning and we have a mini-playground!
Twas a great day!
