Yep, Maleny Knitfest is on! If you weren’t aware of this annual winter celebration then you’d be forgiven for thinking that it was a case of organised vandalism! 😉 Much of our main street has been YARNBOMBED by some very talented people with some amazing patterns and colours. From trees to cannons to cows! Even the Police Station was hit by a highly skilled team of Knitters and crocheters.
We’re heading into town again today (Sunday) for another fix of colour, wool, great people and much more awesomeness!
Scroll down for images from Saturday and Sunday at the Maleny KnitFest
PLEASE come up to our wonderful town and bring your kids for some great music, workshops and other entertainment throughout the weekend. Don’t forget your beanies, it’s quite nippy up here!
The Police Station (below) is a masterpiece that they’ve been working on since last October!!!
The Spiderweb tree. Treens’ fave!
(Below) the tree in the middle of the roundabout as you enter the main street of Maleny.
(Below) Now THIS would have taken ages to create! Under the yarn is an old logging machine if you were wondering what it was 😉 (Thanks Mark 😉
(Below) And of course the cows. A crowd favourite for sure! Whoever did this is amazingly talented! There’s even a yarnbombed bucket to catch the woolie milk…
(Below) River School, which is a local primary school in Maleny even had their own space for some very skilled decorations.
If there was ever a day when you needed to bring your wooly clothes and beanies, it was today!!! Very cold.
(Below) Umm, I think that lady wasn’t happy with me pointing a camera her way…
Clever work outside Maleny Credit Union
The street was absolutely filled with people!
Shotgun Espresso Bar even provided some lovely knitted blankets for their customers.
We just love how Maleny is such a close-knit community. Get it! close-KNIT!!! Ha Ha!!! But seriously, we do love it here. Everyone gets into the spirit of celebration. Even the local businesses.
I met this beautiful family in the main street who dressed up for the occasion! Thanks for letting me take your picture Melissa 🙂 And thanks for dressing up too.
There was entertainment everywhere you looked.
This sign should have said: ‘WATCH FOR YARN’.
(Below) THIS was cool!
(Below) The tree near the kids playground was quite popular.
I just had to ask what was holding that beanie up. Hair he said. Dreadies to be exact. Very Maleny, very cool!
(Below) Even the alpacas dressed up for the occasion.
Pompoms at the Maleny Library.
(Below) Treens just took her beanie off and I was
fixing trying to fix her hair. I’d like to say that I bought this beanie from someone in town today to support a local business, but I actually bought it a few years ago… on purpose 😐 It does keep my ears warm though… And at least I dressed up for the occasion… I can still hear you laughing!
(Below) Selfie in the kids’ playground. Notice the awesome photobomb by some kid in the background. Well played kid, well played 🙂
Treens and her mum.
We finally caught Judah and got a quick snap off just after he ditched his beanie. You can see it on the ground behind us.
