This was wedding jam-packed full of special moments. When I think of their wedding day I find myself with a huge grin across my face. Scott and Katrina really thought about the fine details of the day to make sure their guests had many little surprises along the way! This couple truly think of others in a very personal way. Let me explain…
First, let’s talk about that owl. Wow! So during the ceremony, the lovely celebrant Suzanne Riley got to the part where she asks the groomsmen for the rings. He genuinely looked a bit shocked at this request…as he had no rings on him! He was sent outside to get the rings off someone, and in his place flew in the most agile, spectacular owl from Raptor Vision. The guests and bridal party had no idea and there were many gasps of adoration as Luna the owl descended onto Scott’s outstretched arms. Magical! This was such a beautiful touch to their already incredible ceremony. The were married at The Chapel in Montville which is the most beautiful chapel with wood carvings, glass, sandstone and ….. floors. It really does take your breath away!
After the most exquisite and heartfelt ceremony, everyone was ushered outside where they got to hold Luna and have photos with her as well as congratulate the newly married couple! Photos followed around the Chapel’s gardens while guests were treated to post-ceremony drinks on the manicured lawn while admiring the view over the coast. Our photos ended on a gorgeous garden swing that Scott had made and gifted to the Chapel! When you visit this place, you will see this beautiful wooden swing hanging and underneath will be Scott + Katrina’s names engraved with their wedding date.
The reception was held in the Poet’s Gallery next door to the Chapel. As the bridal party were introduced, there was no sign of the bride and groom turning up to their reception until they were spotted entering a different way, dressed in different clothes and busting into a full-blown dance to “Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing! The whole things was choreographed to reflect the dance on the movie…yes, even that amazing lift!! Everyone was so surprised and equally impressed! What an absolute treat for everyone. We know Scott & Katrina were super nervous about doing this dance after practicing for months in their kitchen each night, but they didn’t show those nerves one bit. It was truly such a fantastic rendition of the “Dirty Dancing” version.
Be sure to check out the actual movie comparisons below! we included some Dirty Dancing screenshots 🙂 SO much fun!!
After their dance we went back up to the Chapel to take some beautiful lighting shots of Scott & Katrina. The night was so perfect with the moon and clouds. We were then given gifts by these guys – The Kracken Rum with an awesome anchor bottle opener for Kirk and I was given a big jar of Nutella with a spoon that had engraved “My Nutella Spoon”. I was floored that they even remembered my Nutella obsession and that I had mentioned MANY MANY months earlier that I could eat it by the spoon. They had gone to such lengths to make us feel special…and we did! The entire wedding day beautifully reflected Scott and Katrina’s personalities – they seem to get so much joy out of making those around them feel special. A scattering of surprises for everyone on their most special day. What wonderful people! We feel incredibly blessed to know these guys.
