Our little family has a lovely tradition we do together every last weekend of May.
Judah, Kirk and I go out into our local neighbourhood in Maleny and collect pine cones for our annual Pine Cone Day. The little spikey balls are natures most amazing fire starters and are way better than anything you could buy at the shops…even the good old metho technique. You just pop them into the fireplace and place some wood over the top and light it up!
Our little family afternoon is a bit of a “welcome winter” celebration and signifies the real necessity of cranking up our fireplace each night.
Welcome winter! We are so happy you are here <3
Judah taking the pine cones out of the box after putting them in. I tried to explain the extra workload he was causing for himself and the inefficient technique he had of collecting them, and this was the facial expression I received in return. What more could you expect from a 2 year old.
Still taking them out of the box….
Happy 2016 Pine Cone Day!
